It seems like a lot of people want all of America's freedoms, but don't want to pay the price for them. Remember how this country was founded? Since that time, the world has become much smaller, boundries blurred. It is humanity's right to civilize itself (Manifest Destiny, look it up).
I agree that a big reason why we are dealing with the Middle East is because of oil. BUT only because the oil pays for horrible things (terrorism, suppressive governments, etc.) Look at Columbia, we got troops there. We're sending millions of our dollars there to fight the same kind of regime. Coke and Heroin are fueling those cats. It was Afganistan that's #1 export was Heroin. Basically, it doesn't matter if it's dope or oil. I'd be very surprised if America started to rape Iraq for their oil after the war, but I doubt it'll happen. Although, since we are freeing the country (whether for the people or not) we will likely drop all our trade embargos with them. It's a just war, though Bush is a weak and unconvincing president.
I'm still waiting for Powell to run....
Hope all this shit's over quickly.
And Melanon, g'luck w/ getting a new job.
