Hi, I recently found this website and found it very helpful and am looking for some opinions. I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years. He has a 9year heroin and crack habit. I totally fell for him when we first met and being rather naive about drugs didnt realise how hard beating an addiction would be. Anyways since we met he has been into rehab several times, tried all sorts of therapys and then finally got the 6month naltrexone implant. He had been clean for bout 6 months when he relapsed about 3 weeks ago back on a crack and H bender. After all the ups and downs of the last 2 years, this most recent relaspe was devastating and so I left him as I cant stand the hurt anymore. Since his most recent relaspse he has gone and got another implant and intends on getting other forms of help to sort out his head. He says he can control his thoughts most of the time but sometimes it totally takes over. And its when these times happen, nobody else exsists only him and the drugs. Thats the most hurtful part as when hes clean, hes the most wonderful person ever. I just dont know if I've done the right thing by leaving until hes sorted himself out. Cos in the past when I stuck around, he seemed to fight it more. I just dont know How many relapses he will go through? Since we've met though the relapses are decreasing with time. He says he's more determined to kick this now I've gone in order to get back tog. Is it true addicts need soo much support and love to help beat this or is it best to loose a good thing to kick things back into perspective? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as its hell being apart from the person u love most in the world.
