I got help and support from my parents,but I DID NOT USE AGAIN.I met a man who had never used and he took me into his life,BUT I DID NOT USE AGAIN.It has been almost four years since i used.If i had started using again,none of these prople would have stood by me.
Sometimes, most times you only have one chance.
Yes an addict needs love and support to quit. You get deathly ill when you quit or ween down,you feel like you want to die,you feel like you could die.You can't work(if you are quitting cold turkey or weening off RAPIDLY with methadone or morphine)
Every addict DOES KNOW that the straight people around them will only take so much.There is a really nice entry in here about a lady who stuck by the person,but it wasn't easy.
I would have said RUN<RUN get away, if you didn't love him so much.Maybe you should let him read this,maybe he will see this is his chance to be free,maybe his only chance.
And if he does read this,i want him to know from one addict to another, IT'S WONDERFUL BEING FREE OF THAT HELLISH REALITY, Life is SO MUCH BETTER without it.
I will keep an eye on this page,i will try and answer any other questions.
P.S Does he want to die an addict? Is that how he wants to be remembered? Everytime i took a "shot" i knew it very well could be my last. Ask him if this is how he wants to be remembered. My dad died of an overdose,his sister,suicide because of addiction.A friend of mine,his mom,died of liver failure because of addiction,it was a horrific death.Is that what your man wants? You ask him.
If he wants to know ,i know the medications that help with withdrawal.
