Rita, how is it going with the methadone for you? The main thing about methadone, is it is not supposed to make you feel high or magically have no cravings whatsoever, only to keep you from experiencing withdrawal sickness. If you were just hoping for a cheap legal version of heroin, or to instantly feel fine & never feel like using again, it doesn't do that. You have to be ready & really want to quit using & to deal with life without being high, & it is a lot easier to do this if you are not dopesick. All methadone does is keep you from getting sick. If you are not getting sick (yet not feeling high either) you are on the right dose & do not need to raise it. It may take some time to adjust to not getting "high" anymore, but believe me it does get much better with time & at least you are not sick & feeling like shit or suicidal from quitting cold-turkey. I do not have any cravings at all anymore, but of course I did at the very beginning. If you really think that being on what is technically too high a dose of methadone will help you keep from using I guess you could try getting your dose raised, & then get it gradually lowered when you are ready to start feeling "normal" & not at all high or sleepy/fuzzy. But usually you'd have to be on a dose way higher than you "should" if you are expecting to feel at all high or anything other than not dopesick.
