The same thought has recently occurred to me. Mr Tallis is notably absent, yet has paid for Robbie's expensive education. Robbie's father is, himself, absent and the whole family are quick to believe a 13 year old child over the rape; Mrs Tallis in particular. I'd love to hear what other people think, it's really intriguing me!

I don't like the theme of 'accidental' incest, but perhaps Robbie and Cecilia could never have been together anyway...
