i was also touched and moved by the movie. it inspired me to buy the DVD and then the novel. i'm currently reading it. just finished the 2nd chapter - just finished reading the prophetic 'you won't hear a peep out of me again' uttered by robbie.

i've watched and re-watched the movie many times. not ashamed that i was moved to tears many times. very well crafted.

the novel, is, of course, a treasure. it's a masterful job of painting the picture. nice to have the images of the movie, but the novel does so much more. and gets into the inner workings of the mind in such detail - i'm quite amazed. you can see why this one was chosen for the big screen.

btw, i don't read much. e.g. last novel i read was 'in cold blood'. so i was quite intriqued by the movie, screenplay and just HAD to read the novel too - so intriqued by the story, the structure of the story - the flashbacks, etc., and various points of view. really compelling.
