As a survivor of sexual abuse, it appeared very clear to me that there was impropriety between Florence and her father. The message I have just read on this site is the first time I have seen or heard of anyone mentioning this.
A lot of people I have heard talk about this book have said a woman would not react as Florence did...
A pity that Florence's husband was quite so 'trouser orientated'.
How did you know Ian, that a woman could react in this way?
Beautiful writing and thankyou Ian for all your books.
