I agree with what you say about 'forced' reading for school. When I took some extra credits at a community college here in Toronto, our English teacher had us read through that book about the English schoolboys stranded on an island and the horrible way some of them acted - what was the name of that book? Well, who cares - I don't like that book at all.

Life is short - I don't like to waste any of it ready books I don't like.
