Subject: Atonement (Film)

I saw the premiere of Atonement last night at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square.

Atonement is one of my favourite novels and I had concerns about its adaptation for the big screen. So much of the novel rests on the concept that Briony is the 'author' and I couldn't see how this would be succesful. When I saw the director Joe Wright had previously worked on Pride and Prejudice I thought Part One would just be shot as a typical period drama. Fortunately I was wrong. Joe Wright and Working Title have made an incredibly stylish film and I highly recommend it.
