I fell asleep last night, just having finished the book, pondering this same question. I wasn't able to decide for myself whether this was a definite cause of Flo's rather odd behavior, but there is certainly something to be said for her stifled relationship with her father....perhaps it was something more along the lines of a father not relating well to a daughter during a more sexually repressed time period? I'm not sure. I have to go back and look, but I was certainly thinking about it. What an amazing book -- so much in so few pages. The last few pages were gorgeous writing.
