Yes, I think there is a definite case for this. Indeed, I think this novel deals subtley but frankly with the taboo of incest. Note Edward's reflection on the possibility of being loved by "more than one girl," with regard to a future daughter (p.126) Also, Florence's acknowledgement of her Electra complex on p.153 "Perhaps I should be psychoanalysed. Perhaps what I really need to do is kill my mother and marry my father."
