I´m sorry I disagree with the mainstream opinion. I find Saturday utterly boring well down to chapter four. Then it gets cinematic (at its best), and finally it´s just unconvincing, unless we are talking all the time about a cybernetic moron. And then, how nice of Mr. Perowne to be thinking of finding poor Baxter a resting place for his impending doom! I can imagine Baxter's tears of dreadful gratitude for such munificence.
I really loved Atonement, but I think this novel is a failure in more than one respect.
