No, I honestly don't feel that is a viable argument. Briony is a fantasist. That is widely evinced in her actions and her enthusiasm for drama especially at such a young age when she read the note and found Lola by the temple. Also particularly note that it specifically mentions the box that she keeps hidden under lock and key to keep her secrets when she actually has none. And conscientiously or not, an opportunity for actual secrets and dangerous predators is more than appealing to her, it is irresistible, no matter whom it is that she is hurting.
