I have just finished reading it and I needed to share my thoughts with people who had. In Spain McEwan is known since film Atonement. To me it's a masterpiece.
I have read Amsterdam, Saturday, Atonement, On Chesil beach, Black Dogs. I only stopped reading First Love, Last Rites because I found it too dark for me. But I am giving it another go in the future.
I bought all McEwan books in paperback last year when I was in England. I'd like to know if he writes novels to disguise essays that would reach less readers.
When McEwan describes british way of life and World War II I feel envy of your democracy, though you have the same problem that Spain has: USA behind. Please keep on with your values, maybe you don't appreciate how important they are. When you march in the City in protest for the government's support of banking' crisis, the whole world is watching.
Thank you Ian McEwan for your wonderful writing.
