My thought ... Writing is a way of working out our own issues in life. Giving them a life of there own allows them to work out there own issues. Maybe the author was doing the same, and came to the conclusion in the book that he came to in addressing a similar situation in his life. Agreeing with the 'diagnosis' I wonder if the author knew that the woman he had in mine when writing this story was a surviver of sexual abuse. Just my thoughts written down...
