An interesting point of view. But what if replacing Saddam with all islamic radicals in this allegory?
The hostage situation in perownes house can get deactivated by confronting the mad brain with the beauty of a poem. I would´t go so far saying it was McEwans suggestion a suicidebomber dicides differently showing him a peace of finearts.
