Christmas is special, it’s like a flower
a glimmer of hope for a minute or hour
it strengthens your heart it softens your soul
good will to all, that is the goal
For Christmas is a time to Herald our King
the savior of all and the mercy he brings

From modest means was ushered the One
to save us all
came God’s only Son
For in a barnyard was born the savior of man
and towards him only 3 wisemen ran
Angels cheered and the stars glistened
But mankind was unmoved, it hardly listened

This Christmas, as i sit with cheer
there is something which I hold that isn’t so dear
It isn’t holy and it isn’t just

it’s a paper championship
that’s held with no true esteem
by players who lost to it’s own league’s worst and winless team

I’ll begin in recent times, not long past days
Misdeeds and ugliness... and of course, undue praise

Fordham Football costs nearly $4 million per season
at the expense of other programs for no good reason

Do you know that Fordham Football players have caused fights
Like locusts or plagues it is no less of a blight

In Fall 2001 a co-championship was won
The school threw a party, it sounded like fun
Then something happened, something those who were there said wrecked the mood
The football team, stole all the food!

Then 2 years later on a summer like day
a football player stole a night stick from a police officer in an off campus malay

Of course there was anger, hard feelings, disgust
But these players weren’t punished and that is unjust

Now let us go back to 1984
A group of football players with no pants on knocked down a female student’s door
What happened after this incident you might ask, were any punishments handed down?
A couple of half-hearted suspensions and a few unkind frowns

Many stay silent against Fordham Football out of fear
Not worth the trouble or ridicule of their peers
I support the Abolishment of Fordham Football
and I’ve been threatened and teased
But it’s Fordham Football’s supporters, not me, whose ideals are diseased

Have you ever seen the typical fan
He’s not honorable, or decent, he’s barely a man
Their faces are red, but not blushed from shame
Merely flushed from alcohol consumed during the game

The end result of so many wasted Saturdays in the fall
Where Fordham Football supporters turn out to watch subpar football
Fordham Football loses, the team has stunk
The fans drive home tired and drunk

But that’s not the end, only the beginning
Cause no one seems embarrassed by the lack of winning
The Football team goes out on Saturday night
Using the energy they saved to drink, dance and fight
It’s the same story, from before my time and after
A football player picks on a unsuspecting student
while the other players cackle with laughter

If these players had any courage or an ounce of heart
They’d spend that energy on the field and try hard for a start

Have you seen Fordham Football’s supporters
If you did you’d be filled with shame
They have no accomplishments, and their own “special” hall of fame

The praise is undue, but you may wonder, how is that so?
I’ll begin with a story about a player named Rob Loh
Rob stood up during a televised show
and said if there was a war he’d sign up and go
He was praised as a hero by fans on the board they even bellowed out loud
that this is someone to "make us all very proud"
But he did nothing other than stand up in a crowd
You see, the war came and with it Rob’s hour to be a man
and when time came to enlist Rob Loh hid and ran

Those who speak out against Fordham Football misdeeds are spoken of harshly and kept in the dark, but we’re an inferno in need of a spark
They think we’ve disappeared, that were gone and we’ve vanished
but we can’t be silenced, we’ve only been banished
The Fordham Football Message Board is where we can’t write
but that bothers us not, we’ve got our own site!

Before this poem ends and I bid you good night
There is one more thing that I must make right
Help Abolish Fordham Football, please join the fight

I wish you a Merry Christmas, I sincerely do
and I hope this poem means something to you

As an alumni who cheered for Fordham Football for four years, with a 3.9 cum GPA, I would like to say that while some Fordham Football players may meet this stereotype you are putting on your website, a lot of them are good guys. Isn't this something your mothers taught you? You can NEVER generalize. And considering Fordham is Patriot League Champs this year, you have no room to talk. Also, it takes up a ton of their time, so the only time they can go out is Saturday night;therefore, no matter what happens they want to have fun the one night per week they actually can. This is also responsible for their supposed low GPA. So next time you want to bash Fordham Football, how about you spend your time doing something more productive, or at least go to a game and see how good they've been doing and watch the awesome cheerleaders!
