I sympathise with your sentiments, but in fairness, I find him pretty well read and even though I obviously disagree with his interpretations, I don't think h can really be said to be clueless. He knows his way round the bible and reads NT Greek etc.

One thing against him that I particularly remember was how he would get us to focus on a few select verses in sermons and then get cross if we read ahead. It was like he didn't want us to see the context from which the verses had been isolated.
