I don't think it is unreasoble to assume that Noel will have been furious and outraged by any such abuse. The fact that there are no quotable quotes only suggests that he was dealing with matters internally. My experience is that Noel never defended the church when it was attacked. He did PR type interviews, but he was never like John Campbell or Dave Hawker (I suppose because JC and DH had that unenviable job).
