Youre getting lost in philosophizing. An avatar does not express "parts" of a jivanmukta because he is a siddha from previous birth, the title jivanmukta no longer applies to him. It is my understanding that Yogananda referred to both himself and Christ as being avatars and that he thought Christ was the greatest master that ever lived.
Ive also read that Yogananda stated that if he ever makes a mistake, it will be made right by God, so his will should be followed even if it appears to be going in the wrong direction.
Being an avatar does not necessarily mean you are at all times in Nirvikalpa samadhi, it just means you have reached that state in a previous life and the nucleus of the ego has forever been vanquished as a potentially delusive state. If avatars take on the karma of others while incarnated, they may again have to practice sadhana to work it off and re-enter nirvikalpa, but the force of previous samskaras and sahaja karma ensures their life will be guided toward this state again.
