good show Shiva

I saw the same quote and it is unclear if anyone else in the kriya world gives this mantra. The quote stood out though. It is unclear if he refers to a state of consciousness or a technique.

There was a yoga sutra commentary passage by Lahiri that seemed to indirectly address hongs sau. It roughly said there were 2 ways to breathless state, watching the breath with jap-ajap (hong sau?) and kriya. I will try and find this quote. I doubt I will be succesful.

Many yoga teachers teach this technique, usually as so-ham. It's in alomost every yoga book I have ever seen and is considered a potent mantra all can do without diksha it seems. As I said, I have seen many yoga upansishads and other yoga scriptural texts celebrate it. Some say it ham-sa and some so-ham. Master liked the 1st. So be it.

Sattwic refers to one of the three gunas explained at length in the last 3 chapters of the gita. Sattwa is luminosity, rajas is activity and tamas is inertia. For realization, it is important to become sattwic 1st. In meditation this means you are relaxed, alert, devotional and focused.
