I want to understand more also. I had a muslim roomate in college and he taught me what HE practiced--the 5 observances. He said the main problem is the misunderstanding of the word jihad--holy war. Mohammed is pretty clear it is a battle within yourself but it has been twisted the way revelation has in the bible. People think of it in material terms and get a gun.
