What I meant is that Yogananda (and SRF) considered Christ superior to himself. Rather than comparing himself to Christ he seems to have envisioned himself to have been one of his disciples in a former incarnation.

Carrying forth my mythological analogy, Babaji would act as the tradition's own substitute for Christ (for Christians) and for Krishna (for Hindus) - a sort of omnipotent divine incarnation who is at once human and divine. It is interesting that one of Babaji's most outstanding features is his immortality, while the fundamentalist Christians generally highlight Christ's supposed victory over physical death.
