Subject: The infallibility of the Guru

Yogananda seemed to want to distance himself from being considered infallible.Indeed, one of the loveliest attributes of Yogananda is that he is full of personal humility and totally approachable as a result.Along with many questioning people,I am quite disturbed by the adulation of Guru figures, they are human and they have faults. As a prerequisite to disciple ship,Yogananda always asked for unconditional LOVE,not unquestioning adulation.Obviously, obedience was vital because spiritual life is a very rocky path,Yogananda's guidanance is vital.I am however, a little disturbed by the worship of ANY Guru figure including the sublime Yogananda. In an address dated 9 Dec 1945 (JOURNEY TO SELF REALIZATION P.35) Yogananda himself had this to say
'IT IS ON THESE TEACHINGS THAT YOU SHOULD CONCENTRATE,NOT MY PERSONALITY OR ANY OTHER PERSONALITY'
Any comments?
