To me, a fragmented self. Claiming some parts of self as one's own and thinking that others aren't really part of oneself. It implies another experiencer that the "real" experiencer is watching. A self that does not change.

Another seperation could be not really understanding the body/mind onnection.

To many it translates into soul and can therefore bring God into question. But I don't think that Hanh was trying to get into all of that. It didn't make me think about that.
