Ketch,

Just a little follow-up to your thread of last year re. Sunburst Community.

As I recall (and it's been 23 years ago now) the community members started to drift away following a series of meetings at old Ogilvy Ranch with Norm where he made vague references to "stock options" and sharing the assets of the corporations with the community (Sunburst Farms, Sunburst Publishing, Sunburst Trucking, Sunburst Natural Foods Markets, the restaurant (which burned down a coupe of months ago after being abandoned for two decades), Flores Flats, Ogilvy Ranch). Norm, according to the members who left, never got around to sharing the wealth. The real properties went into default.

I heard that Rae, Dawn and Patricia (and Mary? - his wife at the time) left for Arizona and ultimately ended up in Oasis, NV and then Elko, NV. Their schooner, the Star Pilot, I believe ended up in San Diego.

One of the local weekly newspapers in Santa Barbara (The Alternative or News in Review) published a series of investigative articles in the late 1970's entitled "Gunburst Farms" and "The Brotherhood of the Gun". The articles concerned weapons stockpiling at the compound and on the Star Pilot. Nothing much ever came of it.

Is Norm back in Santa Barbara?
