About 70 people a day have been visiting the home of Najmuddin Alibhai Jessani in Mumbai (Bombay) to see a potato which has taken the form of Lord Ganesh.

The family living room has been turned into a shrine, and offerings left before the potato will be given to a religious charity.

Meanwhile in Bangalore the God Hanuman may have appeared in the form of a monkey which returns day after day to sit motionless on top of a Hanuman statue.

"For the first five days we tried to chase this monkey away from the temple but it did not budge and inch. Then the elders decided that it is God and we are performing pooja," said Krishnamurthy, priest of the Hanuman temple.
