Will Durant? Cool. He was a great scholar. I have a book of his, a voluminous tome called Caesar and Christ - part of a multi-volume book series on human civilization.

I didn't know that he was in any way connected to Yogananda. Or was he rather an acquaintance of Sri Nerode?

He must have been an interesting man. On the web site it reads:

"Durant’s love for his wife Ariel only deepened with the passing of time. When he was admitted to hospital with heart problems in 1981 at the age of 96, his wife stopped eating; perhaps fearing that he would not be returning. When Durant learned of the death of his beloved wife, his own heart stopped beating."

The fact that my copy of the book is a German translation printed in post-war Switzerland in 1949 may serve as an indication of the popularity of his writings.

He dedicated the book to his wife Ariel.
