A good place to check out for the type of information that you are seeking in my IMHO, is

The url is website for the Yoga Journal magazine. It is very informative concerning yoga, its different branches, etc. etc. The emphasis however is on yoga postures, known as hatha yoga or asanas, the most popular form in the West.
