Subject: Politics AND religion?

I've been wondering this for a long time: Why does the religious right seem preoccupied by their religious paradigms. I mean, is there a connection between this and politics other than "just because?" I sure hope so! Oh, and another thing, are the 10 Commandments not that important even to people who strongly cling to their religious beliefs and practice what the respective Doctrine says? For example, doesn't the Bible say "thou shalt not kill"? If so, how are war and violence justified? These people are apparently in favor of being bushwacked. We don't need war, do we? Honestly what can you prove it solves that peace doesn't, besides more harm and negativity?

There are some lesser known religions and spiritualities that actively "fight" against war, disregard, of any means, or of any kind. Is social creed actually a good deed? I'd like to think not. I'll tell you why. Missionaries in several western religions attempt to do just this. I am morally opposed and strongly opposed. Separate countries are just that -- separate! So, why then do religious fundemantalists and like-minded people think that active conversion is the next best thing? There are so many problems inside the United States as domestic issues and problems, that people should not not waste their time converting people. Are the missionaries motivated intrinsically or extrinsically? Are they doing it for greed? I think so. Are the missionaries seeking to 'take control' of developing, etc. countries? In other words, are they converting people just so that they'll have more countries on the map in 'their color?' This becomes a political thing. Before we try to dominate otrher countries, we should keep in mind freedom of religion. This is one our our most basic rights as U.S. citizens. Politics and religion are different, but have actively been blurred for quite a while.

Please let me know...
