I am utterly shocked and apalled that a student taking any of your sociology courses would write such a evaluation. Where the hell did he think he was, Kindergarden?? David, I have taken your SOC 204 class, it was one of the best classes I have ever taken here at Lane and I am transferring in the Fall so I have taken quite a few classes here. Your style is just that, it is your style, you taught me more about society and the connection between society and psychology than I ever thought i would learn here. I did not think the "real" learning would begin until I got to the UofO, you opened my mind in so many ways. Until I learned about bracketing I lived with so much hate towards men, especially abusive men and rapists. Now I can look at the situation and see that I was not at fault and i can see that our society plays just as much of a role as the perpetrator does. YES, I am on a tangent. People need to know that your class does not just teach the material, the way you teach and the depths you go to allow some people not only the opportunity to learn but the opportunity to heal as well. The knowledge I gained from SOC 204 laid the foundation for all I have learned since then to build on. Maybe if people would do as you say and bracket their sensitivities as well as their views then they too could walk away from your classes with a sense of accomplishment and self fulfillment as I have. Hooray for you David, Thank you for the way you teach and don't let them tell you otherwise.
