Wow! A person always takes a chance as soon as they are brave enough to even speak! There will always be differences of opinions on issues, but then what better way to learn either something new, something more about oneself, or get a clearer picture of how unique each person in our human race is? Good for you, David! You are unique and that's always good to be!
I used to be such a "mouse" when I was young. A term given me by others. I realized that my life was more enclosed than I desired, so I started to speak out more as time went by. I found myself growing in knowledge, experience, and knowing myself more. I'm consistently guaging my limits of what I want to allow to come out or the comfort zone of those I'm connecting with, accordingly to the situation. It's important to know though, that I still feel scared to death many times when I decide to speak out. My heart starts beating faster, I'm so nervous my body feels jumpy,I even feel a little out of breath and I'm wondering if I can handle any of the reactions or responses that might come my way. I also realize that though there are some that don't seem to have a problem with this, there are others that do and I feel acknowledged that to view the world with more "bracketing" in this and many other issues can be both comforting and enlightening, among many other things.
