These strike me as having the most powerful identities...

The Scouse and the Geordies. In fact, they almost separate themselves off from other English.

Then... Yorkshire...

p.s. The Cornish are not English, according to various bodies in Cornwall. Under ethnicity, when you sign up for a doctor you can say English OR Cornish!

You can't sign "Jewish", since it is considered only a religion and not an ethnicity. This is bizarre, and only goes to show that official definitions of what consitutes racial, cultural and ethnic groups are usually far from accurate. I trust only how people define themselves, not how HM Government chooses to pigeon-hole them.
