I've been looking at 1 Iron Golf for a couple of months now. One of the posters on this forum was selling his set (due to a bad back) and we had similar W-T-F measurements. I decided to make the investment and purchased them.

Well I took the clubs out to the driving range for the first time today, during lunch to give them a quick try.

I expected that it would take me some time to get used to them. I was wrong. My first swing with the PW produced a beautiful slight fade landing 120 yards dead center of the target! I continued hitting the PW for about 10 shots and averaged between 110 and 120 yards...slight fades, draws and straight but all ending up at or very near the target.

I jumped straight to the 7 iron from there and had the same beautiful results averaging about 145 - 150 yards.

Next I went to the 5 iron. Again, beautiful trajectory and between 160 - 170 yards. Now came the real test. The 3 iron. I expected to have trouble launching the ball. I told myself that I was just hitting a 7 iron...kept the ball the same distance from me as the other irons, and took a swing. The first shot was dead straight and landed at about 185 yards! I hit about 10 more shots with 3 of them carrying 200 yards! I didn't want to over do it the first time out so I quit there.

I really didn't have any "bad" shots. I just told myself that I was hitting my 7 iron no matter which iron I was really using and it felt very natural. About my only complaint was that the sound these clubs made hitting the ball sounded different than my other clubs...more of a "click" sound I guess. Oh, and by the way, I was hitting off a mat so I expect that my distance may improve from the grass.

I can't wait until I've had a few weeks on the range and on the course and "get used to" these babies!

I am glad to hear that our 1 Irons are performing well for you. As your single swing becomes more and more ingrained you will see increases in accuracy/distance over and above what you have already experienced.
