Subject: 1Iron golf swing

I bought a set of 1Irons last March along with David's instructional book. I hadn't played golf in over 25 years but took it up again at age 59.

I've been able to hit the ball fairly straight and my scores are now in the low 90's. Short game is what needs the time and work because I can get to the greens (or thereabouts) in regulation quite regularly.

A few weeks ago a friend who's been playing golf for many years wanted to go see what "Golf-Tech" is all about so I went with him. Golf Tech teaches golf by hooking you up to sensors and then analyzing your swing to compare it to professionals. They then "correct" your set up, rotation, etc.

Well, when we got to Golf-Tech the instructor asked me to put on the harness just to demonstrate their equipment. I put on the sensor equipment and without a warm up of any kind swung a six iron. On their computers they analyze all sorts of variables in your swing. Each of the variables are color coded, green if it is good, yellow if it needs work and red if it is bad. The instructor expected my swing to have plenty of reds and yellows to demonstrate the areas they could improve my swing.

Surprise, after 9 months of 1Iron golf my swing registered all greens except for a yellow due to not enough hip rotation. That was excellent confirmation of what David has said - you don't need to get lessons to learn how to hit a golf club correctly. Read the book!

ps- my friend's swing lit up the Golf-Tech computer with reds and yellows - he signed up for lessons. I'm still working on him to make the investment that will make a difference in his game - 1Iron clubs.

Vic,

That is very interesting. Since you only use one swing with your 1 Iron Golf clubs it naturally becomes very efficient over time. This plus the fact that it is the only swing ingrained in your muscle memory would certainly contribute to the results that you obtained.

David
