Subject: Glad I waited

I had my 1 Irons for about three weeks and still found after quite a few trips to the range that I was still losing distance with them. I emailed my concerns a few times to Mr. Lake who was more than generous with his time and effort in answering all of my questions and providing insight.

I was just about to return the clubs under their 30-day return policy when out of the blue everything fell into place. Mr. Lake told me that it would if I followed the Playability Tips and just gave them time but I didn't expect how sudden and dramatic the change would be. It was like somebody waved a magic wand and I started hitting great shots with all the clubs. I've gained about five yards in distance with all the irons over what I'm used to and the crisp ball striking is something you have to experience to believe.

My advice to anyone who is initially struggling with the clubs is to keep at it because the fault is the ten or so different swings and ball positions that you've ingrained over the years and not the clubs. Just like me, it takes time and patience but in the end it will click and you'll be amazed. I'll honestly say that if you can't play and excel with these clubs you should find another sport.

Glad you hung in there! The more you use them, the more that will "click" for you. I've had my clubs since September, and every round I've played with them there has been a "Wow, that was a really good shot" with a club that I've never been comfortable with before. For instance, I've always had a problem with my drives leaking off to the right. Today, every single drive split the fairway. That is a first for me, and I liked it!

Be sure to check out the archived newsletters. There is a wealth of information there that will truly help your whole game, and not just tips that put a band-aid on a problem.

These clubs are really working out great for me.
The last one I have figured out is the driver(big surprise). After reading your message I went back and read David's Tips again and followed his advice on the driver.

This time I tried many different setups and ball positions as suggested in his tips. I finally discovered the perfect combination for me. It is a very narrow, very upright setup with the ball just inside my left heel (which puts the ball very close to the center of my stance). This, along with an easy swing, more comparable to the swing I take with my 9 iron has me blasting the ball as far as my best drives on the rare occasion that I actually hit the ball using my old swing. AND,,,, straight down the middle!
Who knew it could be so easy.

Now, if only I can resist the temptation to hit it JUST a little farther each time I address the ball. That has always been my downfall in the past.

I've had my irons for about a year now and, while they took some getting used to, they work great. It took me
so long to realise that every club is the same and, if I would use the same, and this is important, consistent swing, every hit is clean !! The clubs are heavier than my previous, to which I needed to become inculcated. I also needed to work hard on the consitency thing, mainly shortening my backswing !! My H/C has gone from 26 to 12 and, as soon as I get busy with practicing my putting, S/B below 10 !! Amazing !! Glad I waited too !!
