I use all the 1irons and driver. I hit my adams tight lies fw woods fine so I've not gotten the 1iron fw woods yet, but will eventually. Why?... because all the clubs David makes are the best of any I've owned. If you're concerned about the wedges, you can always choke down and stand closer to the ball I suppose. I've heard outstanding reviews of the fairway woods, especially the 7 wood so I imagine they would do well for hybrids. Good luck.

I have the 3-SW set of 1 irons.
I didn't have much of a short game before them, and I still struggle with my wedges now, so I can't really comment on that end of the spectrum. Except that I think cutting them down would defeat dome of the purpose of the 1 irons.

For me, the PW down to 5i is solid. The 4i iffy, and I can't do a damn thing with the 3. I've come to the conclusion that I just don't have the swing speed to be effective with them.
But I've recently discovered the beauty of fairway woods. I purchased an Adams Tight Lies 3w on a whim because it was on sale. I was so happy with it that I went out and bought their 5 and 7 woods, and pulled the 3i from my bag.

If I had it to do all over again I probably would have bought the 5w,7w,5i-PW set instead.
But this game is a never ending learning process, and that includes equipment.
