Subject: Ready to Plunge

I have read thru these posts time and again, and after playing to a mid-teens handicap for 20 years and never seeing consistent improvement, I am ready to "re-invent" my swing and thought process. My only question is this- my WTF measurement is 37.25". I noticed on your order form for lengths that they are broken up into one-inch increments. If I were to buy a used set from another 1Iron user who was a 37.9" WTF, would these clubs still be considered to be a proper fit? Sorry to seem persnickety but I want the right fit for taking my game to where it should be taken. Thanks!

Larry,

There is no guarantee that a used set purchased from an individual will fit you properly. The are numerous (and not intentional) reasons for this:

1) The individual will have forgotten the W-T-F measurement that they originally submitted and provide a guess as to what it was.
2) Very few customers will accurately remember their fitted club lengths.
3) The used clubs may have been adjusted for club length, lie angle, loft angle, etc.

I have seen former customers advertise their used 1 Irons on EBay where the club lengths and their W-T-F measurements did not match our fitting records.

Thanks for the quick response David. I actually saw one of the users in this forum advertise a set of clubs which he said was originally made for him at a WTF of 37.75". I had my wife measure my WTF and after 2 tries to make sure it was consistent mine comes to a 37.5". With that info, is the WTF measurement that critical or is being off 1/4" an OK thing?

Larry,

Our golf club lengths are based on 1.0" incremental increases in the W-T-F measurement. Therefore any W-T-F measurement between 37.0" and 37.9" would result in the same club length.

I might caution that I have seen "for sale" posts on this forum where the author's W-T-F measurement and club lengths were incorrect.
