Subject: launch angle

I've been away for golf for a time, just coming back maybe 6 months ago after a dozen year layoff. Doing ok, double bogyish- If I could elimate the 3-5 ob's a round I would be much happier. I've looked at buying new clubs and been back to this site at least a dozen times-- here's the issue--- I find that there are a lot about my clubs I like Currently hitting Hogan Edge metal shaft clubs cira 1984 or so. They fit my game-- I have no woods or driver in my bag-- probably hit 4 iron, ( longest club i carry) around 200yds or so, depending on the day. Clearly these are not state of the art, but they seem to fit my game--- I can get the ball up and over most anything I need too--- if the choice is hit over an obstale or keep the ball down, I'll take the shorter club and go over--- May not be the best golf but I like it that way.

Anyway I am getting older 61 and not near as flexible or strong as I used to be--- I would like a little more swing speed, plus the idea of using the same setup/swing really appeals to me. Being I use the irons off the tee, I just drop the ball on the ground--- I don't even want to have to learn a different swing with each club that would be necessary by teeing up the ball.

Been interested in the balanced iron set idea-- but don't want to give up my ability to get the ball up and over and sure don't want to give up any distance...

Any thoughts or insights anyone might have would be appreciated--- thanks

You won't have any problem getting these clubs up and over an obstacle. They launch higher than most clubs, from what I've read on this site and personal observation with my new clubs. I doubt you will lose any distance as most of us have seen equal or greater distance than with our old set. I would recommend them.

I believe that Mark J. answered the question as well as I could have.
