Subject: First impressions of my new 1irons

Just rec'd my new 1iron set (3w,5w,7w,5i thru LW) and thought I'd share my initial first impressions.

As I took the clubs out of the box - I thought what a beautiful set of sticks! Very nice looking and felt very balanced (with my limited living room swings),

I then did an immediate comparison - my 1irons are 37" in length, which is the same length as my old 9 irons. Wow!...no doubt my old clubs were longer than normal (graphite shafts + an extra 1/2 inch). So I have in effect a bag of 9 irons (in my minds eye). I'm asking myself, "will I really be able to hit these as far as my old clubs?". Psychologically, this is going to take a little getting used to....

So the next day I went to the other side of town so I could swing in the dome (still a lot of snow here in upstate, NY). After a slow start, I really started to groove my swing with these clubs - and the ball really seemed to take off. And I have to admit, it was really nice to just have to set up to one stance and one ball position. I was pumped! And I really started hitting the irons well.....(I'll get a truer read on distance when I can get outside, but it felt like I was getting my old distances).

FW woods were nice too. A higher profile face than what I've historically played and for some reason, mentally, I struggled to feel comfortable with a middle of stance ball position for the woods. Will just take some getting used to (both profile and ball position).

So my first impressions were very favorable. Obviously, the next true test will be the golf course. Hopefully this damn snow will melt in the next few weeks.

I read your post and we have something in common. I purchased the exact same clubs that you bought and my irons are all 37" long just like yours. I adjusted to the irons quickly too, but the woods, seems I don't trust the center of the stance, but it does work.
Sorry you have snow, I live in Florida, Cocoa Beach area, and I have been able to practice and play with my 1-iron clubs. All I can say, they are the best clubs I have ever owned or played with. You will love them more once you take them to the course.
