Subject: Moe Norman Single length clubs

Can you expand on your website comment about Moe Norman using the basic 1 Iron concept. I am a natural golfer. I have not heard much about the clubs Moe Norman used.

I competed against Moe Norman many times during the 1960's and 1970's and he always played irons that were the same length. Same address and ball position on every shot just like 1 Iron Golf teaches.

The Single Length Iron concept is not new. They were manufactured commercially in the 1980s by Tommy Armour Golf under the name EQL irons. These irons were very successful for a short time, however the pressures of high volume sales in the world of big business forced Tommy Armour to abandon the concept.

Moe Norman was one of the staunch advocates of the single length iron concept, and Moe's phenominal ball striking is still admired by the best golfers in the world today. Moe's single plane swing - though not necessary to use single length irons - was perfectly fitted to the single length concept as well.

I do know that Moe never used a ten finger grip or used non-tapered grips until he became Natural Golf's spokesman. My understanding was that he was destitute and practically living off the streets when Natural Golf came along and offered him cash for the use of his name. After that he adopted all of Natural Golf's teachings in exchange for a paycheck. Natural Golf didn't model anything after Moe Norman but just the opposite. I've also heard for years that Moe played single length sets of clubs all during his career on tour.

Don't forget the 5 grand a month that Titleist gave him until he moved out of his body.
