Finally got to hit the clubs today. Followed Davids instructions and hit each iron, wedge, woods and driver all at 1/2 swings (5 balls on each). Starting with the 3 iron I flubbed the first 2 shots and smacked the last 3 and it went that way up until the 6 iron. After that I got the hang of just nipping the turf with the club and driving through the ball and turning my wrist and waist properly. WOW!! It's like hitting butter when you get them dialed in. I do have to admit I was hitting off of a mat at the range but still WOW! I am a very bad slicer and I think I only hit 2 slices out of two buckets that I hit the rest were straight as an arrow. Even the bad flubbed shots were fairly stratight and still would have played ok on the course. Tomorrow is my day 2 hitting and I get to hit 3/4 and full swings....I can't wait!!! I will post after tomorrows training........... very happy so far!!!

Danny,

It sounds like you are getting your new 1 Irons dialed in. I appreciate that you are following our "Playability Tips" and you will not be disappointed in doing so. Like the old saying goes "Make haste slowly".

Well here is day 2 - After hiting about 3 balls at 3/4 swing I took a full swing on the remaining 2 for each club. After two buckets I AM SORE...Ouch!! But, I hit well, I still had some slice problems with full shots but I know this is my mechanics and I am out of golf shape, so after a few more weeks of range time I should be in shape enough to work out the kinks.
One thing I will mention here is these clubs are weighty compared to my off the rack previous set. It tests your back and arm muscles for sure. I know once I am used to them it will get better.
When the balls come off these clubs its like they are being shot out of a gun, its amazing when you get solid contact. Well I will be working on my hitting for the next few weeks and will update once I get back in shape enough to play my first round. Still too cold here to play yet, but it will be warming up soon!! BTW, thanks David for the kind words of encouragement.

Danny,

I would surely be sore after hitting two full buckets of balls at the range. I strongly recommend that golfers limit themselves to one bucket at the most because once you start becoming tired you are just burning calories and accomplishing very little in the way of improvement.

It does sound like your ball striking is becoming very crisp and powerful.
