I'm a life-long hacker (I play to about a 21 handicap), and probably always will be. A good day for me is breaking 90. I bought my 1 Iron Golf clubs several years ago, and have never been displeased with them (not for long, anyway). I knew after reading about the company that David Lake was on to something good, and buying his clubs would be a smart move for me. They are by far the best clubs I’ve ever owned and I would be reluctant to play any others. And they have improved my game - but only so much. Equipment is only part of the equation.

I wish they were magic clubs, and I that could say that these clubs allow me to hit every fairway and shoot at every pin. I too am envious (if not a little skeptical) of those who say they’ve experienced such dramatic improvement only shortly after playing 1 Iron Golf clubs. I’m not among them But golf is such a hard game! When it “clicks” I’ll leave the range or finish a round and sometimes think, “Ah, now I’ve got it. If I can just keep doing this…” Then the next time that feeling is no where to be found, and I‘ll shoot 102 or hit every thing off the toe. Thinking too much.

I’ve never lost confidence in the equipment, just in myself. So after a cooling off period I go back to the range and try to “dig it out of the dirt” as Hogan says. I can look forward to the next time, and maybe I’ll shoot 82. When that happens life is good again, and what a wonderful game golf is! Who knows, maybe someday things will click, and stay that way. I’ll keep trying. I’m convinced that this equipment can only help, for all the reasons David Lake writes in his book and on the web sight. The rest is up to me.

I've played only occasionally for over 20 years, and have always been essentially a double-bogey golfer, shooting between 105-110. I bought the 1Iron clubs a month ago, and have noticed great improvement in a couple of areas. I've played four times with the new clubs, and broken 100 twice, which is about as many times as I've done that in the previous 5 years. I still push way too many shots to the right, but I believe that's a swing or set-up flaw that a lesson or two can fix. I definitely make more consistent contact with the new clubs. The most dramatic improvement is in the fairway woods - I've had tremendous success and consistency with the 3- and 5-wood off the fairway (or rough), so much so that I often tee off with the 3-wood, since I still haven't cured my driver slice.
