Subject: My experience

David, I want to thank you for the 1irongolf clubs I purchased last July. They have improved my game and made golf more enjoyable for me. My index has dropped from 24 to 18 and it is trending lower. I am consistently driving the ball in the fairway, but I am not hitting the greens with my irons. I am generally in the neighborhood, but not on the green. The course I regularly play has rough around the greens and I have trouble pitching the ball onto the green. I would appreciate any tips you have regarding the short game (from 100 yards in).

I have one additional question regarding the driver. I allowed one of the other clubs to rub against and scratch the top of the driver while it was in the trunk of my car. It happened through the cover and it is not a deep mark. Do you have any suggestions re removing the scratch? It does not affect the play, but I hate to see such a great looking driver with a scratch on the top.

Thanks again and let us know when the putter is coming out. Best regards, Jerry

Jerry,

Your emphasis should not be on your short game, but rather on your approach shots. I would suggest that you spend time at the range using only your irons. What you want to do is to pick targets on the range and hit to them as opposed to just hitting balls. This will develop your accuracy. Another good technique is to go to the course in the late evening when it is relatively empty and play four or five holes hitting a number of shots to the greens from varying yardages. I generally go a couple of hours before sunset because no golfers will be starting a round at this time. I have spent an hour doing this and only playing one hole. (Make sure that you let any late night golfers play through).

I use only one club from 90 yards to chipping range (LW), because I believe that becoming proficient with one club from varying yardages tremendously increases consistency.

David,

Can you update us on the putter, and the updated version of your book ?

Jeff,

The update to our book will be out this fall. We have decided to postpone the release of a putter until next year. I am sorry that I forgot the second part of your original question concerning the refinishing of your clubhead. I would send it to GolfWorks who will do it at a very reasonable price. Their phone number is 1-800-848-8358.
