Subject: Iron headcovers

To anyone contemplating the purchase of a set of irons: buy the set of iron head-covers!

Not only are they great looking but they are an inexpensive way to protect the club-heads from getting dinged up from banging around in your golf bag. They also protect the longer shafts of fairway woods and drivers from the nicks caused by iron club-head impact.

100% agree. Anybody who doesn't use headcovers on their irons is asking for scratches and dings that eventually ruin the club face. Especially with 1-Irons since they're all the same length.

I was thinking about how they might bang together, but i'm wondering maybe if a wedge shaped piece of styrofoam at the bottom of your bag might help offset them. might be hard to get something like that in the bottom of your bag tho...

That wedge shaped piece won't keep the shaft of your graphite shafted driver from getting nicked all to heck by the iron club heads though. It makes a lot more sense to just buy the headcovers designed for these irons.

For the price they're a no brainer investment.

Rather than having to keep up with a bunch of head covers, not to mention having to take them off and put them back on for every shot, I much prefer the Bennington Quiet Organizer golf bag: http://www.benningtongolfbags.com/

My only affiliation with Bennington is as a happy customer. I have the QO-9 cart bag. Each club has its own slot, and the club is fully protected from head to grip. I've heard that the stand bag doesn't have enough room. I either ride in a cart when the golf course mandates the use of the cart, or use a pull cart. The bag fits either admirably.

I couldn't agree more about using head covers on irons. Any body who doesn't is asking for chipped paint, dented club faces, and flattened grooves. And anybody who shells out big dollars for a quality set of irons is just stupid not to protect them with head covers.
