Subject: My new 1 iron Clubs

I just received my 1 Iron Golf Clubs. Although I have not taken them to the range yet I am already feeling confident with them. The club heads are quite nice and have the look of durable quality steel. The face and top line are very nice (I typically play blades. My biggest and most pleasant surprise is the club length. I am 5 feet 10 inches tall with a W-T-F of 34 3/4 inches. My irons are as long as a standard 9 iron. I can hit my 9 iron solid all day long. I also received a 3 wood that is a little shorter than a standard 7 wood. I love the size and shape of the head (it reminds me a bit of a Callaway Hawk Eye VFT from the top. The Driver is about 43 inches and simple but it has a deep face so I feel I can bomb it. The grips are a different style and look than I am used to but they feel as if I have a very secure grip on them and at the same time they won't tear my hands up. I will up date you all after a session or 2.

I just returned from my first session at the range with my 3 iron. I must admit I was not used to standing so close to the ball with my 3 iron. I was a little skeptical in getting good distance with the club being the length of a standard 9 iron. I must admit I was impressed. I was able to hit range balls to the 200 yard marker. I would hit my bad ones 175. I noticed my body was starting to get accustomed to swinging with these new clubs. I am aware that range balls are not designed to travel as far as real golf balls. My goal is to hit my 3 iron to about 225-230. I believe with learning to more properly execute the technique and a little more meet on my bones ( I am a skinny guy) that I can achieve this goal by summer. More to come.

Omar,

Forget about trying to get more "meat on your bones". As you become more and more acclimated to your new irons and ingraining your single swing you will see increases in distance.

You are correct about the extra meat on my bones. Charles Howell Third is a very slender fellow and he can really knock a ball out there effortlessly. Well I had my second session with my 3 iron and it was easier for me to work more on correct mechanics, especially my take away. I was consistently achieving better ball contact and reaching the 200 yard marker. I am felling more comfortable and letting off on the effort to get the ball out there.
