I imagine I would also be able to use it from the fairway as well.

One of my biggest pet peeves regarding the conventional drivers is the fact that they are only useful when the ball is teed up. I almost always play courses from the back tees which means I am playing courses with anywhere from 6800 to 7400/7500 yard lengths. In every case the course has more than one par 5 that is 550+ yards. I hate being 280 yards yards out with not much obstruction to the green and reachable pin positions and having to lay up because my 3-wood won't make it and my conventional driver was only built to hit a golf ball off a tee with an upward swing.

My biggest concerns using drivers has been accuracy, then distance. The 1 iron system solves the accuracy problem for me, the distance would at worst be about the same, but now the "1-wood" characteristics bring into play a third benefit: versatility.

I'm glad the steel driver is being considered for 2010. If it can be available around early to mid-April, that would be great :)

David,

This is exactly what I was thinking. Such a driver would add versatility.
