Subject: Question about body makeup

David,

My WTF is 36". I have a question about this length relative to my body. I am 6'2" but long waisted. From the waist down I'm like 5'10" and the waist up I'm like 6'4". My inseam is 29" but my sleeve length is 35". Does this make a difference in how club length for me would be determined? The club I seem to hit the best is my 8 iron. When I purchase clubs I get them 1/2" longer and 2 degrees upright.

Thank you,
Jim

Jim,

On their own, the length of your arms, legs, or torso have nothing to do with a proper fitting. What is important is your W-T-F measurement which we translate into your wrist-to-ground measurement at impact assuming an ideal posture and swing plane. The resultant club length forces you into the perfect swing posture and swing plane to optimize your skeletal, muscle, and joint functions to produce your highest power and control potential.

At your W-T-F measurement your irons would be the same club length as an "off the rack" #7 iron. Since your favorite iron is your #8 and your clubs are built 1/2" longer than standard, a set of our irons would be identical to your favorite #8 iron.

It is important to note that every golfer has a favorite iron which is unconsciously determined by the golfer's body gravitating to the one that comes closest to fitting properly and is exactly what our fitting model is based upon.

Thank you David,

Originally I was thinking the 7 iron because I hit it good but if I only have time to hit one club when warming up I seem to use the 8 iron and never remember mis-hitting it. The reason I'm looking at your irons is because I have a tendency to hook my 5 and 6 irons quite a bit and this was with about every set of irons I have had, Pings, Nike's, etc. I hope the irons don't have much offset as I hate offset, drives me nuts.

Jim

Jim: I'm 6'0" and my favorite club was the 7-iron, which I could hit the easiest and with the most consistancy. My WTF was 34.5" and when I got my new 1-Irons, they were within 1/4 inch of my old 7-iron! I now play all my 1-Irons with the ease, consistancy and confidence of the old 7-iron because they are just like it (only much smoother and tons better)! I could NEVER hit anything lower than my 6-iron well(I didn't even carry a 3 or 4 iron); now I hit my 3,4 and 5 irons as solid as the rest of my 1-Irons. One other thought: be sure to have someone else take your WTF - I tried to take my own and kept getting different readings - finally my daughter "got it right". The 1-Irons are AWESOME clubs and will serve you well! Have a great day. R2

Thanks Roy. It sure sounds like the 1 irons work very well. I had a friend take my WTF measurement. Played today and hit my irons pretty good. At times I hit my irons real well but not often enough for my liking. Do you get the appropriate distance out of your 3, 4 and 5 1-irons?

Jim,

I hit my 1 Iron Golf #3 iron about 5 yards farther than my old Ping #3 iron and 100% more consistently. My 1 Irons are the length of my old Ping #9 iron.

Thanks Fred. I think all of you have answered my questions very well.

Jim: I am a slow learner and still have not realized the full potential of my 3,4 and 5 1-Irons. I'm finding that the more I practice with them, the more "grooved" my swing becomes. That said, I still hit them much, much better than my old long irons (which I finally just gave up on). My distance is good, and the yardage gaps are becoming consistant with all of the 1-Irons. It just takes time and patience, but you will soon be there - just keep practicing often. Have a great day and hit 'em straight! R2
