Subject: trajectory

I got my 1 Irons last fall. Due to a long winter, I have only been playing my new Irons for about 6 weeks now. And I'm very pleased with them
A lot of people have asked me, how do you get the ball so high and still so far. I can only say " it's the 1 Irons".
My quistion is. Why do I get so high trajectory and still a great distance with the 1 Irons?

Distance is a function of trajectory and, unfortunately, is ignored by most golf club designers. When I designed our golf clubs this design function was uppermost in my mind and I was able to design a club-head with optimal (high) trajectory and maximum distance without sacrificing accuracy.

It would seem that the loft on the irons that normally have longer shafts, i.e. the 3 through 5 irons would have to be decreased to compensate for the shorter shaft ( assuming that it is the 6 iron length) to achieve the same distance. By to same token, the lofts on the 7 through GW irons would have to be increased to accomodate the longer than standard shafts. Is that accurate to say? Why would the trajectory of the irons be higher across the board?

Christopher,

If you look at the Golf Club Specifications page of our website you will find that the loft angles of our irons are comparable to conventional iron loft angles. The only exception being that ours progress in exact 4º increments which assures a constant yardage gap between successive irons within a set. If you read further through our website you will find that club length has absolutely no affect on distance whatsoever.

Our irons produce a higher trajectory with greater distance than typical conventional irons because of the club-head/shaft design and also because as you ingrain your single swing you will hit the ball much more solidly than ever before.

Should the loft and lie of the 1 irons be checked periodically? Could they change after use for a long time?

The way I understand trajectory is if the center of gravity is lower in the club head and there is sufficient weight in that area the ball will launch higher. Also, as David mentions shafts can be tipped to produce a kick point that will aid in acheiving a higher trajectory as well. To me the 1 irons are perfect. By utilizing the positioning of clubhead weight, clubhead design and shaft utilization David has produced the straightest clubs in the industry. In my opinion he's up there with Karsten Solheim.

I feel maybe it's because with the 1-Irons, we hit the "long" irons more steep, than conventional irons.
Whatever it is, I just love my 1-Irons, whent from 19,1 to 15,9 in handicap in a few months. ( and still close to get lower )
The only bad thing: I don't get to hit my driver much anymore:-) I hit my 3 iron about 190-200 meter with roll, wich is plenty on the must par 4 holes on my home course.
