Subject: Golf industry exhausted all new so called technology what now.

Just as a back ground I have played David's 1irons since his original Maltby designs. Been through at least 5 sets and played for a pretty long time. Been a club builder and worked at several golf shops for many years.

Every year the re-hash of so called new designs and technology comes, and I want to pull out my hair, with the promise of longer and straighter drives. You would think buy now 500 yard drives would be common. Tour players spraying drives and miss hitting shots like weekend hackers. And yet so many don't get it yet.
I am counting down the days in which a daring major company takes the leap and goes the 1iron rout?

When this occurs suddenly you hear the the experts saying tour play have been doing this for years. So the question needs to be asked. So why have the Major companies been ripping me off all these years. Or put another way why have players been letting them do it?

Lets stop the madness spread the word if you can.

Enough rant....

I don't think the major manufactures of clubs will change their battle plan. They will continue to market their ill fitting equipment as long as they can make more money.
Witness the hilarity of it. Coming soon, turbulators on drivers, even more difficult to hit longer and lighter clubs, pink drivers etc..

You've got to envy the golf club manufacturers: They know they've got the best market in the world - a vast sea of fanatics about the game, all with healthy egos, and usually with the money to spend on the latest toy or gimmick, if they think it will help their game.
And they play it for all it's worth: We somehow forget that the clubs we bought last year were supposed to be the answer to our problems, and eagerly pop for the next "Greatest Thing" to come along.

The major brands rely on the fact that their customers will purchase their "new and improved" sets of clubs every year or two in hopes of improving their game since the ones they've already bought didn't do the trick. The thing with the 1-Irons is that if you buy one set you'll never have to buy another because they produce your best game (true for everybody). This might be a sales blunder for 1 Iron Golf since they don't get repeat sales but through word of mouth every golfer in the country will be their customer.
